Isaac, I can’t forget our family pool party last 4th of July. You were so interested in what anyone, everyone had to say. I can remember your huge smile and warm inviting presence. You and I talked about how fun it would be to be flying together. Let me say that you would have made a fine flight attendant. To be honest, you would have been great at whatever you chose to do. You were always willing and able to what was necessary for your family. I love that you never shied away from anything. There was no fear in you. You lived and loved deeply. I will miss your presence because it was warmth. It was genuine. It felt like home when you were around. I love you cousin and I will deeply miss the hospitality you displayed. Rest in the arms of our Father and give Míma and abuelito huge hugs and kisses for me. 

Isaac and I were teachers together. I only knew him for a year but to know him was to love him. He truely listened and I always knew I could lean on him. One day, some of the girls in his class were picking on a little girl with autism. Isaac called the girls over and they started trying to explain why they were picking on her. He cut them off and said, “I’m going to say one thing to you both: be kind. It’s really that simple.” That always stuck with me because it was so true, especially for him. We spent 40+ hours a week just talking about life, he fed my kids crackers, helped me design Disney ears, and helped me decided what school to send my daughter to. His dreams were so big and his love for his family and Emily were bigger. I wish I could tell him that because of him, I will always choose kindness.

Isaac, you filled the room with laughter everywhere you went. That Austin smile, that beautiful face matched who you were when you were young and when you became a young man. My fondest memories are when you still lived in Holland on Washington Avenue. What I would give to see you under your bed one more time. Stay in my heart and mind always, Isaac Austin.
