My heart felt condolences to Pablo,  Blanca and Danny. What i most remember about Hilda was her love for building things. I was amazed by what she could do. She had a big heart to go along with her beautiful smile . May time bring you peace and healing 💔🙏🏻❤️

My Beautiful aunt always running doing things she loved construction was her main thing I always saw her doing. She would proudly show me her accomplishments. She was sincere and a humble person. Very caring always worried about her children and grandchildren. She just wanted the best for them. She was a good mother, grandmother, sister in law and aunt. She trusted my mother and I in a lot of small things she worried too much. She was a good listener as well.  She will be missed.

Hilda was a kind hearted woman with many trades she loved to fix, construct, refurbish furniture and install tile anything to make a home look beautiful and she would do a great job. She was very smart in ideas of rebuilding a home inside and out. She loved antiques. She kept herself busy. She was a good sister in law, advisor and a good friend, I will deeply miss her. 

Hilda was a kind-hearted person that loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her caring, hardworking, energetic & spunky personality made her who she was. The two things that stand out the most is that she loved Chico’s Tacos and refinishing furniture. When they would visit El Paso she came prepared with her containers to take back some tacos. It wasn’t one or two orders to go, it was going to be an order that would last her till her next visit. When we would go visit I was always impressed with all the tools she had in the garage to work on her projects. She was always working on landscaping, cementing or restoring old furniture. She was truly an amazing person that will be missed. From the Melvin family we offer our condolences to all that loved her. May she Rest In Peace 🙏🏼😇

Let me tell you a little story to warm your sad heart about Hilda.  Back in 2000 I went to visit her at Thatcher.  I was just married and presenting my new wife to Hilda.  Feels like last week.  Anyway, she treated Lily so nice, like family.    She was really into house improvements and showed us  some cement work SHE did in the back yard.  Then she showed off some woodwork/ cabinets SHE had remodeled. She said the wood she used on the cabinets was special and expensive.  Then she did something I will never ever forget.    She gave me 2 little gifts.  2 small pieces of left over wood from her cabinets.  She then wrote her phone number on them so if I ever needed her I could call her.  Well  I kept them ever since... 20 years, as a momento of her gift.  

I remember  very few things from my childhood  but the things that mattered most are still there clear as day. Visiting  my grandparents  was one of the few. The long drives were boring and dread full but all worth it once we arrived in Safford. My grandma would always great us with a smile and love that would radiate through the room. But with a heart made of gold that love was effort less. She always made sure my sister and I were happy going as far as setting up pools in the summer heat to taking us out to play. I have a letter  written by her I carry in my wallet everywhere I go and when I feel like the days just drag on and nothing is getting better ill read it because  nothing mends a heart like a grandmothers love. I will miss her and that will never change.  I feel so blessed to say she was our grandma. 
I love you grandma and always will. on a clear day I will  look up and say hello knowing you'll be waving back and that love will fill my heart time and time again.

She was my big sister who looked after us girls and was always there for us,.  As grown women we were friends.
We worked together on building projects and hobbies where I learned to admire her skills and work ethics.  
I will treasure my memories of her and thank God for blessing our family with a beautiful spirit. He gave us a great gift we will never forget.
Dear sister Rest in Peace .

Celebrating the life of my beloved sister Hilda Maria Martinez. She was 10 years older than me and because she and I both stayed home most of the time we became incredibly bonded. Watching the same Spanish comedies, like Viruta y Capulina, while eating chips with hot sauce and drinking coke products (after she cleaned of course). She loved to learn everything she could. When she was about 17 years old, she and our sister Irma took on the project of tiling the main restroom, my mom was shocked by the mess. After the project was completed our brother Rafael wanted them to do the same to his house. Irma and Hilda both took on projects of building garden walls, cement slabs, painting, and much more throughout their lives. Always working to improve where they lived. Hilda was mostly hearing impaired but this did not stop her from doing the things she liked to do. She learned to dance through the vibrations of the music and I truly believe she was a better dancer than any of us! She learned to read lips to not be left out of conversations, she always said Spanish was easier to understand. I remember once when I was about 9 she tried to teach me proper etiquette. After school she made a 3 course lunch for Hector and myself, which we presided to then mix together and put ketchup on. Her expression of shock will forever be etched in my mind, she was so disappointed, but it tasted so good! There was also the time when I was young and my friend Margret and I ate Reeses’ peanut butter cups and I became sick from all the chocolate I ate (it ended up on the wall that night). Hilda patiently cleaned it all up, telling me that eating too much chocolate would leave me overweight and toothless, should have listened. Hilda loved working on projects and she credited a lot of what she knew to her brother-in-law Pedro. She tried to teach me but I was reluctant to learn as once she had me hold a board to hammer but when she went to hit it she missed and got my thumb instead. Hilda adored spending time with family, our sister Dahlia remembers when she, Hilda, and Doña Beatris would sit in the kitchen drinking coffee (Hilda hated coffee but loved milk) and Doña Beatris would tell them they should honor their heritage and that to know your people there was no better way than to travel and stay with friends to get the real feel of the culture. Hilda absolutely loved her in-laws, her mother-in-law lived with them for a while and she respected and loved her dearly. When Hilda was younger she would make the peace sign if someone was taking her picture or she was leaving, (like our Grandmother). This is how I imagine and will remember my sister, peaceful! John 16:33 says “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart: I have overcome the world.”
