Harold Ray Zoellner, age 73, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Harold, or Ray to those who knew him well, was born in Tucson in 1950 to Harold J. and Grace M. Zoellner, both of whom preceded him in passing.
Ray is survived by his brothers Kenneth L. Zoellner, Roger Zoellner, and Justin Shields; his children Christopher Ray Zoellner and Brian Eric Zoellner; and his granchildren Abriana Amador, Juliana Laracuente-Zoellner, Immannuelle Victoria, Christopher Zoellner Jr, and Julian Zoellner.
Ray lived life loudly, with passion, and hit the ground running. He began his career proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, after which he worked for the San Manuel Mine for over 30 years, and then ensuring national security with TSA for nearly 20 years. Ray believed in hard work, and never doing anything halfway; in both his time with the mine and the TSA, he began entry level and made supervisor in both positions. He was well-liked by his coworkers, who knew him well; on retirement, he was gifted a carriage for his beloved Shih Tsu, to take on walks with him.
Ray filled his down time with a devoted support of the Arizona Wildcats, and an avid delight in just about any sport. He was a gifted athlete in high school, and played on the Naval softball team as a young man. This talent and activity persisted into his retirement, he would take long daily walks, and pursued a leisurely engagement in golf; as with anything Ray strove for constant improvement in his golf game, and enjoyed more so the fellowship of playing with his friends and brothers.
Ray will be dearly and deeply miss by those who knew him. His memory will be cherished.
A memorial service for Harold will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
