Dr. Graydon Randolph Forrer, M.D. passed away in Tucson, Arizona on January 17, 2011. Dr. Forrer was born, January 26, 1924, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of Dr. Wilhelm G. Shules and Blanchard Forrer Shules. He was a 1941 graduate of Brighton High School in Brighton, Massachusetts. After entering the U.S. Army in 1942, he trained as a medical doctor at the University of Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1949. He served as a Captain in the United States Public Health Service prior to being board certified in psychiatry and beginning private practice in 1955. Dr. Forrer married Geraldine Bauschelt in June, 1955 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. and Mrs. Forrer settled in Flint, Michigan where he practiced psychiatry until 1987. Dr. and Mrs. Forrer then moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he practiced psychiatry at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute. He retired in 1998, moving first to Green Valley and finally to Tucson, Arizona in 1998. Dr. Forrer is predeceased by Geraldine Forrer (June, 2010), his wife of 56 years. He is survived by Dr. Scott C. Forrer and Dr. Victoria LaSala Forrer and grandsons, Juan Carlos and Esteban Forrer of Tucson, Arizona; Graydon John Forrer and Julie Lloyd of Washington, D.C. and Phillip David Forrer and Norma Watkins of Pollock Pines, California. Dr. Forrer was a wonderful husband and father who will be much missed by all who love him.
