Gerardo as known as ("Guero", "Wedo", "Jerry", "Screech", "Werro" and "Babe" by his wife).
Guero had a heart of gold. He cared for everyone, no matter what their station in life. He was one
of a kind; adventurous, compassionate, skilled and had the ability of fix things at a moment's
notice. He lived by two sayings: "My dad and I have the technology" and "I'm going to McGyver
it...rig it up". In his lifetime, he was famous for his service to others, "Good Morning" greetings and
he was a loyal Miami Dolphins football fan...win or lose.
Born on January 11, 1979, he is the son of Gerardo (Isabel) Estrada and Maria (Rudy) Pesquiera
He is survived by his parents, his wife Karen Robbins-Estrada, his dog Odie, his sister Marisela Araiza;
brothers Diego (Adriana) Estrada, Rudy Pesquiera III and Michael (Emily) Araiza; Nieces, Vanessa
and Cassandra Estrada, Marissa Derosier; Nephew Dominik Derosier; many Aunts, Uncles and
Cousins; In laws, Trenton and Darlene Tsosie, Dudley Robbins and Frances Ortiz; Sisters in law,
Alexis Robbins, Vanessa Tsosie; Brother in Law, Matthew Robbins; and extended family. Pre-deceased
by his grandparents, Roberto & Alicia Estrada and Joaquin & Lupe Castillo.
Guero was a husband, brother, uncle, Godfather, and a friend to many, from all walks of life in our
community. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was never selfish or self-centered... he
put others before himself. We believe that what kept Guero alive, against the odds, was his
profound love for: God, his wife Karen, family and friends. He strived to attend every family event;
even in excruciating pain and while suffering from his side effects. Despite his pain and suffering,
he always took the time to volunteer to help family, friends, strangers, (i.e. helping his father with
projects at home, giving advice, making tamales for the family Christmas reunion, fixing friends
cars, babysitting, playing with his nieces/nephew, helping cancer patients, etc.) His devotion to
his family was priority.
At the age of 34, Guero was diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer that affects people who
are under the age of 50. Guero's doctors were amazed and have no medical explanation as to
how he stayed strong, resilient, and survived for almost 7 years. In fact, not only did he rely on the
advice of his cancer medical team, he did his own research and used natural elements of the earth,
spiritual healing, and self-guidance to heal himself. Throughout his courageous journey to beat the
cancer, he remained positive, happy and had complete faith, hope, and trust in God. Thais is what
kept him alive.
Guero fought his battle against cancer with dignity, valor, strength, and trust in God. He is an
inspiration and a model of faith. He changed many lives with his words of wisdom. By the grace of God, he passed peacefully surrounded by family and is now living in eternal life in paradise. We know you are watching over us with angel wings.
