Our beloved Father, Gabriel Cordova, passed away peacefully October 19, 2019, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by love with his dearest wife and family by his side. He was 81.
Born April 12, 1938 in Mulatos, Sahuaripa, Sonora, Mexico. He married his wife Maria de La Luz Cordova of 57 years. He worked for the Kalil Bottling Company as a General Foreman until he suffered a heart attack forcing him to retire. He was an active and devout member of St. John’s Catholic church; he served and supported his church family and those in need. His servant heart complimented his active adventurous spirit. In his finest role as a loving and jovial father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he created an atmosphere of peace and laughter. His exemplary life inspires us to love deeply, serve others and live fully.
He will be remembered for his joke telling, his love of playfully teasing his wife whom he adored and his wisdom, his witty personality. He was a strong and hardworking man. He was a great provider for his family and loved ones.
He was a humble and loving man. He devoted spending time with his family and friends.
In his later years he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He never complained, kept a positive attitude with a smile on his face. He devoted his entire life to his family and continued to influence their lives.
There are no words to describe his loss, as he was the best husband, father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to all. Gabriel has been the rock that held and reunited the family together.
He is preceded in death by his son Jesus Cordova and his father; Gilevaldo Cordova, mother; Maria Villareal Ocana. He is survived by his wife Maria de la Luz Cordova, his children Gabriel Antonio Cordova; son, Elizabeth Santa Maria; daughter, Sergio Cordova; son, Maria Georgina Cordova; daughter, Cesar Cordova; son. Great grand-daughter in laws; Carmen Cordova and Holly Layne Santa Maria. Grandchildren, Jose Alberto Santa Maria, Jesus Angel Santa Maria, Crystal Lizzette Santa Maria, Sergio Cordova, Gabriel Cordova, Liliana Fierro, Gabriela Alejandra Lugo, Luis Armando Villa, Adrian Montiel, Cesar Cordova, Carmen Cordova, Isabel Cordova and Demetrio Santa Maria. Great-granddaughters; Penelope Jayne Santa Maria and Mila Noel Santa Maria. Sisters; Rosa Maria Gomez and Maria Luisa Longoria and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Friends and Family are invited to celebrate Gabriel's Celebration of life. Viewing will be held in Tucson Arizona, Friday, October 25th 2019, 4:00pm-10:00pm at a viewing from 4:00 pm - 10:00pm at Funeraria del Angel Mortuary, 7 E. University Blvd. with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Mass will be offered on 2:00pm on Saturday, October 26th 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo way.
