Ethel Ruth Yeager, known by her friends and family as Ruth, was born to Erwin and Pearle Henderson on July 28, 1937, in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of four children. She was a wonderful role model to her two sisters, Joyce and Edith, and baby brother Gary.
Ruth married George Alfred Yeager May 13, 1955 of her senior year in high school. He was her prom, graduation and wedding date. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage together. She was a loving mother to their three children, Jeffrey, Vicki, and Michael.
She adored and greatly invested in her 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She had dozens of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and “adopted” children and family members. She loved spending time with each and every one. She found great joy in sharing meals with them. When her children were teens, she and George would have the Bethel Baptist Youth Group over for pizza parties and games. Missionaries were also frequent guests.
When they first moved to Tucson in 1961, she worked at a drive-in burger joint and an Italian restaurant. Ruth spent most of her working years as a nurse's assistant at TMC in the newborn nursery starting in 1966.
When younger, Ruth loved to square dance with George. In her later years after George went on to be with the Lord, she loved to read, play cards, and watch Mollie B. Polka Party on TV. She also kept up with the news and weather so she could update Jeff and Diane at dinner.
Ruth accepted Christ as a child and continued to grow in her relationship with the Lord her entire life. She prayed fervently for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until November 15, 2023 when He called her Home.
