Donald Michael Rotherham, 81, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Roberta Dee Rotherham, by his side on January 4th, 2022. Don was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on July 20, 1940 to M. Earl and Grace Rotherham. He attended St. Joseph's Cathedral Catholic School until he graduated high school, and was a faithful Catholic all his life. Don spent the next forty-five years serving his community and country, including deployment as a Marine to Vietnam, for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was also an Air National Guardsman (Ret. Lt. Col.), a Sioux Falls Police Department (Ret.) Officer, SWAT member, detective, firearms instructor, and his favorite position, Patrol Officer. He became a security guard for Avera and Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls, after retiring from police work and until he retired from employment. Don was passionate about the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and later in life, conservationist. Don was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. He particularly enjoyed studying history. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Roberta Dee (Lind) Rotherham of Tucson, Arizona; his children, Michelle (Curt) Cochran and Michael Rotherham; his grandchildren, Emma Grace Rotherham and Drew Michael Rotherham; and his great grandchildren, Philip Michael Rotherham and Erik Christopher Rotherham. Other surviving family members include: his step-children, Scott (Natalie) Lind, Gene Lind, Laurie (Jesús Treviño) Lind; and his step-grandchildren, Paul, Danielle, and McKayla Lind, AJ D'Ottavio, and Cameron Lind. Also, his stepchildren Jodi, Julie, and Jim. Preceding him in death are his father, M. Earl Rotherham, mother Grace (Middlesteadt) Rotherham, best friend and hunting and fishing partner, Jerry Beck, with whom he joined the police force, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Nebraska.
