Known for his humor, intelligence, and integrity and remembered fondly by many, he was born February 13,
1940, in Stillwater, OK to Esther and Bruce Taylor. David would spend his childhood moving around the Midwest with his parents and younger sister until settling in Tucson, AZ in 1957.
After serving 4 years as a naval corpsman, David returned to Tucson where he would meet his wife in the Anthropology graduate program at University of Arizona. Deeply invested in the community around him, David served 30 years as an urban planner for the city of Tucson.
Throughout his life, David appreciated the power of the written and spoken word to inspire, illuminate, and entertain. A fan of Mark Twain, he often liked to say “never let the truth get in the way of a good story.” David is survived by wife of 47 years Joan Donnelly, daughter Clare Donnelly-Taylor, son Ian Donnelly-Taylor, sister Martha Lawrence (John) and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at 10am, at St. Pius X Catholic Church 1800 N Camino Pio Decimo, Tucson, AZ 85715. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Marshall Home for Men 3314 South 16th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85713.
