The youngest of six children, Curtis was born December 14, 1918 to Henry Shelton Harmon and Lillie Vilroyal Shull in Lexington, SC. He served his country in the 293rd Joint Assault Signal Company (JASCO), whose mission was to provide communications for the 149th Combat Engineers. Side by side with his comrades of this highly specialized unit, Curtis stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy France on June 6, 1944, D-Day. After his military discharge, he served in the United States Postal Service until his retirement.
Curtis met his beloved Betty Leung while living in Chicago and they were wed in 1969 in Guadalajara Mexico, a location they both loved. Together they enjoyed life in Puerto Vallarta and ultimately settled in Tucson, enjoying retirement and one another until Betty’s death in 1991.
In addition to his parents and wife, Curtis is predeceased by his five siblings Rosa Edge, William Harmon, Coke Harmon, David Harmon and Sylvia Harmon. He is survived and will always be remembered in love and great affection by his adoring nieces and nephews. An inurnment will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
