Born on October 20, 1932, and passed into eternal life at the age of 90 on April 1, 2023. She is survived in death by her husband Alan E. Koeneman, sons, Mike Martin and Ritchie Martinez, and daughters Cherri Goerlitz, Cathy Giddley, Pam Avery, and Lori Barbour. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her brothers (Schultzs) Merwyn, Gordon, Ronald, Robert, Curt and sisters Lois Cupery and Dolores Luck preceded her in death. She was known to many as a “Hard working and strong mother” who loved the Lord. She enjoyed 62 special years in marriage to her husband and always enjoyed living near her family so she could celebrate holidays and family events.
Like many young men and women in the 1940’s she saw her brothers leave their small town of Randolph, Wisconsin to join military service during WWII. Being the youngest of the siblings, she remained behind and at a very young age started her family. With the support of her family, she divorced and started a life on her own. Thankful for the support along the way, she led her first four children into a good life. In 1956 she met Alan, and they were married in 1960. Together they built their home in Stoughton, Wisconsin on Bass Lake Road. Receiving only a very limited formal education, she attended night school classes to learn business bookkeeping. These newly learned skills were instrumental supporting the family business owning/operating four appliance and television retail sale stores and a full-service repair department. While managing the home and working in the family business, she gave birth to Pam and then Lori. During this time, their hard work in the business provided Alan and Connie the amazing opportunity to travel to many international destinations that they both never imagined small towns mid-western people like them would experience. She and Alan remained in Wisconsin until moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1979.
While Alan changed career, Connie worked part time as a bookkeeper until they both scaled back toward retirement. She was able to get involved more with her church and Women’s Aglow Christian activities which she loved doing. Her older brother Merwyn moved to Tucson also. She and her brother always enjoyed doing activities together and she was especially happy that he was in Tucson so she could share and include him in her family. Her will and determination toward leading her children and family to success has always been at the root of her endeavors in life. She will forever be remembered, missed, and loved.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., at Hope Church 3353 North Houghton Road 85749. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery Marana, 15950 N Luckett Rd, Marana, AZ 85653.
