Bill was saved as a young man through the ministry of Pastor Jerry Riffe at Scott Memorial Baptist Church. He had a great love for the Lord and raised his family to walk in the Christian faith. He faced the suffering of Parkinson's in his final years with courage and faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Cindy, through 52 years of marriage. As they raised their five children, family was the center of their life, with many fun memories shared camping, canoeing, barbecuing, and playing games together. His eyes lit up any time one of his fifteen grandchildren came to visit.
Bill loved to connect with people and touched the lives of many with his generosity, humor, and caring heart. Through his passion for genealogy research, he connected with many cousins and other relatives. He was a brilliant electrical engineer and storehouse of information. He had a lifelong passion for classical music and played percussion in the school band from junior high through college.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Rebecca Blunk, Jon Russell, Isaac Russell, Phil Russell, and Susie Scheidemantel; and fifteen grandchildren. Though his family misses him greatly, we rejoice in knowing that he is free from pain and suffering and is experiencing pure joy in the presence of his Savior.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
