

Charlie was born in Centerville, Tennessee to Andrew C. Wright Sr. and Ruby L. Wright. He was raised in Richmond, Indiana and excelled in both academics and athletics. He received a basketball scholarship to attend Western New Mexico University in Silver City. There he received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics/Physics while receiving numerous awards for his basketball talents. He was a four year letterman, Team captain for three years, MVP for three years and NAIA District Seven all-star. He would later be inducted into the Western New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. While at Western, Wright served as Student Body President in the 1966-67 school years. He was a member of Blue Key National Honor Society, Student Government, Circle-K, W-Club, Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, and named Outstanding Senior. After leaving Western in 1967, Wright earned a MBA from the University of Arizona and worked in several major corporations utilizing skills learned at Western and elsewhere. In 2014 Charlie retired from Raytheon Missile Systems as Director of Information Technology.
Charlie gave his life to Christ and was baptized in 1995 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, TX. In 2000 he was ordained as Deacon of that church. After moving to Tucson, he united with the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and resumed his Deacon duties until it was prohibited by his health. One of Charlie’s favorite scriptures was, “Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.” Charlie definitely had a pure heart and loved everyone he met. His love was shown to all by his actions.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Andrew & Ruby Wright, sister Anna Pearl, brothers James Maurice, Harlan Kelly and Andrew Crawford Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 41 years Brenda, sons Randy, Richard and Charles Maurice, brothers Thomas, Robert(Pat), Eugene(Sue), Phillip(Paula), sisters-in-law Mary Wright, Mary Sullivan, Barbara Money(Ellis), and brother-in-law Reggie Sullivan. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
