He was born to Major and Lena Mae Walker. He attended Parish High
School where he flourished and was able to graduate.
Charles, being who he was, went on to join the United States Navy. During
his time in the Navy he was fortunate enough to be stationed in Hawaii,
Japan, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and he was able to retire after 20 years
of honorable service. He completed his time in the Navy in 1975 where
he had the prestige of having the Pentagon be his final tour of duty.
Charles moved his family shortly after retiring to Tucson Arizona.
In Tucson he continued his education and attended Pima Community College.
He was able to earn an Associates degree in sheet metal and mechanics.
He went on to use that degree with the United States Postal service where he
worked in the mechanical department and he flourished there
for 18 years, retiring in 2001.
Charles is survived by the love of his life, Addie Walker whom he was
married to for 62 1/2 years, his son Andre Walker, his daughter in law
Koni Walker and his grand kids, Aryanna, Ciera, Charles, Konner,
Mikela and Michael. Charles is the last of 9 brothers and 4 sisters,
His last surviving sister Sharron Spencer and her husband
Reverend Leo Spencer live on to keep his memory alive back home
in Mississippi.
Charles lived for 83 happy and loving years, his strength and kindness
touched the lives of everyone around him. His love and commitment to
family is unmatched. He leaves us knowing that we have all benefited
from his wisdom and he returns to the Lord where he will be with his
family in heaven.
