Charles Salvatore Scozzaro of Tucson Arizona passed away on January 12, 2020 at 84-years old. Charles was born in Trenton New Jersey on August 11, 1935. He graduated from Trenton High School where he was a competitive swimmer. Also known as Charlie, “Chaley”, Chas, Dad, Pops and Pop Pop, Grandpa, G. Pop: Charles was a pioneer in health & wellness, maintaining a whole foods diet. He was a culinary aficionado, and an outstanding chef. His passion and zest for life was contagious; from sports, animals, travel, and lifelong learning. He also was a water enthusiast and emotionally never far from the ocean, lakes & rivers: from swimming to sailing, water skiing to fishing, and the simple enjoyment of being on the beach. Charles liked to hunt and was a marksman with a bow and arrow. Charles’ love of animals led him into owning shares of racehorses and raising wonderful dogs with his children. Charles also had a blackbelt in karate. A mechanic by trade, owning and managing several auto repair and auto sales facilities, he later became an instructor at the local community college.
Charles was also a deeply religious and spiritual person, St. Jude and St. Christopher were especially inspirational. He lived his last days with courage, dignity and grace.
Celebrations of Charles’ Life will be held for family and close friends February 15, 2020 in Queen Creek AZ and at a date to be determined afterwards in Tucson AZ.
Charles is survived by his daughter Barbara Jean Scozzaro Plunkett (Dennis); sons Charles Angelo Scozzaro (Kim), Michael Joseph Scozzaro (Sharon), and Gian Joseph Scozzaro (Alison); 12 grandchildren Angela, Justin, Michael, Krystle, Nicole, Lisa, Danielle, Michael, Shawna, Vincent, Sinjin, and Soren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Angelo Charles and Filomena (Fannie) Scozzaro, and his son Timothy Stephan Scozzaro.
The family of Charles Salvatore Scozzaro wish to thank the YMCA, 401 S Prudence Rd. Tucson AZ and the William M Clements Center 8155 E Poinciana Dr. Tucson AZ for giving Charles a place to practice yoga and remain active for the last several years.
