In 1944 he served in the Second Marine Division as a Battalion Construction Officer. He participated in the Saipan, Okinawa and the occupation of Japan Operations. He was discharged by the marines in 1956 as a Captain.
He graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1947 as a Mining Engineer and received a Master of Science degree in 1963 at MIT in Boston. He and his bride moved to Mexico where he had a distinguished career with ASARCO Mexican mining department advancing to Vice President of Mining and Exploration operations in Mexico City where he and his family lived from 1947 to 1973.
He then returned to the US where he continued with ASARCO Inc. and was named General Manager of the Western Mining Division which included the Northwestern and Southwestern mining departments. He retired in 1982.
He then served as a member of the Society of Mining Engineers A.I.M.E (Legion of Honor status). His participation of civic activities included the Arizona Academy, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and was on the Board of St. Joseph's
Hospital. He was active in the Knights of Columbus in both Mexico and Tucson,
making 4th Degree Knight.
He is survived by his daughter,Debbie, who lovingly cared for him after the death of his wife. His passing will leave a void in the hearts of many. Debbie would like to thank TMC doctors, nurses and technicians who loving cared for him in his last hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Eastlawn Palms Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in Chuck's name to St. Luke's Home,6115 E. Adams St.,Tucson,
85705. Visitations will be from 5:00 to 6:00 at the Mortuary chapel on Monday, July. 15th with the Rosary from 6:00 to 7:00. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated,Tues. March 16th at 9:30A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church,5150
N. Valley View road. Interment will be at a later date.
