October 11, 1939 – January 1, 2024
Carmen Olga was born in Caborca, Mexico in 1939 to Maria and Francisco Varela. She was raised with her three siblings; Yolanda, Pancho, and Norberto, and was later joined by Margie.
Carmen married the love of her life Gilberto Segura on May 30, 1960. They were blessed with three beautiful children who meant the world to them; Brenda (Sergio), Gilbert “Gordo”, and Irma (David).
Though she loved bowling, gambling, and shopping -- her favorite role was that of a Nana. She treasured her time with her grandchildren: Eric, Nathan, Nicholas, Stephanie, Sergio, Danielle, Corina, David, Estevan, Marisol, and Gilberto “Gordito”. She was also blessed with two beautiful great-granddaughters Elena and Valentina.
Carmen was passionate about giving back, especially to the Catholic Church and multiple charities throughout Tucson, Mexico, Venezuela, and Ghana.
Carmen will always be remembered for being the most devoted wife, loving mother, and greatest Nana. We will always imagine hearing her laugh and seeing her bright smile. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, and Nana, and we will miss her every day. Carmen’s memory will live on in the hearts of all of those who loved her.
Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Parish on January 12th at 10:00 am, with the Mass to follow. Carmen will be taken to Del Angel South Lawn Memorial Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
