Artie Paulsen passed away peacefully with family near her on Monday, June 3, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born Artha “Artie” Jeanette Miles on September 8, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska to Thomas A. and Erma J. Miles.
Artie spent her early to adult life in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from North High School in 1955. She was a secretary at Prudential Insurance before her marriage to Dale William Paulsen, also of Omaha, in 1957. The couple made their life in Omaha having their first child, Lori Jeanette in 1958. Soon to come were Gregory William in 1961, Sharon Marie in 1964, and John Thomas in 1969. The family were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Omaha.
In 1974, Artie and family moved to North Platte, Nebraska. They were active at Messiah Lutheran Church. As Artie’s family grew, to help with her children’s college expenses, she worked as a Lincoln County Court Clerk in North Platte from the early 1980’s through the mid-1990’s.
In 1995, Artie and Dale, both retired, moved to the Saddlebrook community in the Oro Valley, north of Tucson, Arizona, where they resided until 2015. They were active at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Oro Valley. Artie volunteered at Oracle Elementary School and other local charities. Thoroughly enjoying their retirement, the couple extensively traveled throughout Europe and the United States, including a memorable cruise to Alaska.
In 2015, Artie and Dale moved to Tucson where they attended Tanque Verde Lutheran Church. As they’d always done, the couple continued to enjoy concerts, plays, and community events while living in Tucson.
