Alice S Sams

Alice Susan Sams of Tucson Arizona, born August 3, 1931, went to be with the Lord May 3, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 67 wonderful years Herbert Sams. Susan had 5 boys: Mike (wife Nelda deceased), Patrick (wife Marilyn), David (wife Mary), John (wife Leslie) and Jeff (wife Beverly). She adored all 12 of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susan was preceded in death by her parents (Clifford Young and Lola Cameron) and 3 siblings (Dale Young, Harlan Young and Marianne Baker).

Susan was born and raised in Anamosa Iowa where she grew up on a farm and eventually met the love of her life Herbert Sams. They loaded up the family and moved to Tucson in 1969. Susan worked for Hughes Aircraft for most of her adult life before retiring. She was a voracious reader but more than anything she loved to sit around and visit, telling countless funny tales about her life growing up and the antics of her boys. Susan was a devoted Christian spending countless hours working with children and young adults in the church. The first love of her life was the Lord Jesus loving her family and friends with the same love Jesus showed her.

Susan was a great wife and mother! She always supported the interests of her family, spending many hours cheering on their activities. Whether it was sports, motocross or the always important car racing, she was right there in the middle of it. Susan always greeted everyone with a big smile and a hug, she was a selfless and loving woman with no match.

We love her and will miss her more than words can say. It gives us great comfort to know she is in the arms of the Lord.
