Adel Shukri Ziady

Adel was born on November 25, 1937 to the late Shukri and Jamal Ziady, in Hammana, Lebanon. After graduating from high school in Lebanon, he attended the University of Louisville in Kentucky and graduated with a BA in Mechanical Engineering.

After university he returned to Lebanon and began his life’s career as a mechanical engineer and gas turbine specialist. His career included 30 years with General Electric Company, and he ultimately became a vice president of General Electric Technical Services Company.

Adel met his wife and treasured companion, Laura Finch Ziady, while she was studying in Lebanon during a junior year abroad program. They married in Yuma, Arizona on June 13, 1964. Their adventure together spanned 50 years living in eight countries. Together they raised four children.

In addition to his faithful commitment to his family, Adel’s passions and personal contributions in life and to society will be remembered by his devotion to his place of birth and home town, Hammana, Lebanon, as well as his dedication and work with his church and Casas Adobes Rotary Club.

Adel is survived by his wife, Laura; his four children Nada (Tony) Martin of Santa Rosa California; Raja (Lara) Ziady of Louisville, Colorado; Maya (Morgan) Adams of Tucson, Arizona; and Riyan (Anjee) Ziady of Broomfield, Colorado; as well as by seven grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers and eleven nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, 7/8/2014 at 10am at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 5910 E. 5th St. Tucson, AZ 85711. Interment to follow at 11:30 at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Tucson, AZ 85712. Adel’s family would like to thank Tucson Medical Center Hospice caregivers for their assistance and support at the end of his life.
