proud Grandpa was ushered into Heaven April 27, 2020 by the sound of the "Call To The Post" and reunited with his Father Adam Leoni, Mother Susan (Benedetti), and Stepfather John Wittkowski
Adam was born 10/16/1940 in Steubenville Ohio, to Adam Leoni and Susan (Benedetti) Leoni.
After the sudden death of his father at age 26, his Mother Susan moved to Tucson for health reasons. Adam had a fantastic Catholic Education starting at C. E Rose Elementary and eventually graduating from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1958. Adam would get a kick out of sharing his nun stories with his Children and Grandchildren. As a child he enjoyed, nickel pinball, watching movies all day at the theatre and playing baseball. Adam's love of baseball was with him throughout his life from a young little leaguer, playing centerfield in high school to many years of coaching little league. His tenacity in coaching eventually took him and Bob Nelson's team to state. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Arizona for a short period of time as a History Major and Physical Education minor. Adam, worked as a cook for Mr. Burger where as fate would have it he met his wife of 30 years Cheryl Bock and together had four children Ron, Rick, Robert and finally a girl Robin. In addition to being a cook, Adam was a surveyor with the mines before getting on with the U.S.P.S. where he worked for over 30 years. Finally retiring as Supervisor of Postal Operations from Nogales, AZ. In addition to coaching baseball, Adam enjoyed the horse races and has qualified for many National Horse Racing Tournaments.
Adam enjoyed arguing politics with his ex-wife Cheryl. He loved getting "The Bachelor" scoops each-week from his daughter Robin. Adam rested in the fact that if something ever happened to him, his Son-in-Law Brian would take care of his baby Robin and the girls. Adam and his son Rick shared a love of the horse-races. Rick would even bring him racing forms to brighten his day when he was hospitalized. Adam enjoyed his annual Thanksgiving outings to the casino with his Son Ron, or as Ron would call himself "His Life Partner". Adam and his Son Bob would love to bash each others football teams, as Bob loves the Raiders and Adam was diehard Cleveland Browns Fan. Both share bad taste in picking teams.
Adam is survived by his Sisters, Florence (Wittkowski) Hijazi and Susan (Wittkowski) Wadsworth. His ex-wife and long-time Friend Cheryl. Children Ron, Rick, Robert and Robin Leoni, and doting Son-in-Law Brian, Grandchildren Nicholas, Vincent, Anthony, Jacob, Lucas, Larissa, Kendy, Sepporah, Cora and Saige. As well as three Great Grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He loved being a coach and Father, but absolutely cherished being a Grandfather above all else. We Love you Dad, there will be a huge hole that will never be filled. Until we meet again in Heaven.
P.S. Rick says "If there is a horse race heaven send him a winner!"
