Xiomara E. Arango, age 72, dear daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, went to heaven on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, to live with her Heavenly Father and Creator. “Sisi”, as so dearly called by many, was born on December 2, 1948, in Havana, Cuba and came to the U.S. in 1961 with her parents, Dr. Virgilio A. Arango and Mrs. Omaira Duarte Arango and two sisters. Sisi attended St. Joseph High School in Atlanta, class of 1968, and then went on to the University of Tampa and earned a bachelor’s degree in Education, followed by a master’s degree in Library Science at the University of South Florida. In 1983 she began her profession as medical librarian at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. After 30 years of dedicated service, she retired in 2013. Sisi had a beautiful singing voice, loved to dance, and made so many people laugh with her comedic actions. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two sisters, Omaira A. Arango, Ileana I. Andrews (Harry), three nieces, Ileana Franklin (Ryan), Jenny Conner (Lee), Katie Shell (Leon), three great nieces, Lydia Gann (Jacob), Maria Hickox, Lilli Shell, five great nephews, Alex Hickox, Michael DuBose, John DuBose, Ben DuBose, Warner Shell and many beloved cousins. Sisi had two dearest friends throughout her life, just like sisters, Francee Melf, and Tere Figueroa.
A funeral service for XIOMARA will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341.
