Peggy Wise Howard was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend. Born in Winder, Georgia, May 17, 1937, Peggy was the daughter of Monroe and Ruth Wise. Growing up in a small town, she formed friendships for a lifetime. Attending the University of Georgia, she met the love of her life, Richard Douglass Howard. They were married August 1, 1959.
Peggy and Doug enjoyed a wonderful life together with their two daughters, Jennifer and Ginger, often going on family trips and adventures. Later, after the girls were grown, Peggy and Doug enjoyed square dancing with friends and traveling internationally.
Peggy had a passion for teaching, both elementary and preschool. Kindergarten was her favorite, as she loved helping children develop a love of learning and unending curiosity about the world around them. Former students often came up to her, telling her how much they loved and appreciated her.
After Doug's untimely death in 1992, Peggy and Jennifer pursued line dancing and a whole new group of very dear friends was added.
Peggy loved socializing with all her friends. She had a very full and rich life. Peggy died December 11, 2024 and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Ginger Howard was a loving daughter, sister, cousin and friend. Born at DeKalb Medical Hospital on April 13, 1965, Ginger was the daughter of Douglass and Peggy Howard. Growing up in Decatur, Ginger attended Rehoboth Elementary and Shamrock High School. Loving school and learning, she was a school patrol in 7th grade, played the flute in the Shamrock band in 8th and 9th grade, and was a member of Flag Corps in 10th grade. After graduation, she took classes at Georgia State and entered the work force, often working several jobs simultaneously. Ginger was very caring and thoughtful, often volunteering after work and on weekends. When she was no longer able to work due to health crises, Ginger maintained her passion for helping others, volunteering whenever her health permitted. After an extended illness, Ginger died January 3, 2024, and is greatly missed by family and friends.
