Neva Lawrence Webb Redfern, age 96 died April 21st, 2018. Neva Lawrence Jackson was born November 24, 1921 in Lynnville, Tenn. And was the daughter of Alice and Reverend James Wylie Jackson, a dearly loved minister at the First Presbyterian church in Columbia, SC. where she grew up before attending Agnes Scott College in1942. She was a beloved sorority sister, active in the Glee Club, graduated with a BA in Drama, loved theatre and modern dance. She recently celebrated the 65thalumni reunion with her beloved classmates-friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Married June 22nd, 1946 to Sam Clement Webb, a veteran of WW11. Dr. Webb became a distinguished Psychology professor at Emory and Graduate Dean at Georgia Tech. Neva and Sam were active members in The Druid Hills Presbyterian church and The Quaker Church in Atlanta. The couple continued a life of participation in their community, involved in both church and university life. Neva continued her personal involvement in creative and cultural affairs by appearing in Shakespearean plays, teaching Bible studies and Drama and Speech in Elementary school, becoming a contemporary oil painter, being an avid reader and gardener. Neva loved music~ from singing in the Presbyterian choir to attending the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, she was best known for playing her piano, being an accompanist with local trios, and later teaching piano to children. She had an amazing intellectual curiosity, a lover of beauty, nature and the divine, a member of various churches, deeply devoted to her faith, music and the arts, and family values. Dr. Webb passed from heart failure on a trip to Toronto attending a Psychology Convention at age 60. Twelve years widowed, Neva met Clarence Redfern, her second husband on a church group tour in the British countryside. He was an avid member of the Druid Hills Kiwanis Club and they shared a decade of fun European travel before he passed at home in1998. Neva has since resided at her senior residence at Clairmont Place in Decatur. She lived a rich, full life surrounded by wonderful community and dear friends. Neva is survived by her son Sam and wife Kathleen Webb of Duluth, and their three sons Stewart, Neill, and Collin, and her daughter Nan Webb in San Francisco, CA. Her body was cremated and laid to rest at Floral Hills Cemetery, Tucker, GA.
