Born in Bethlehem, PA on February 14th, 1930, Micki was the only child of the late Helen Canning Bauder and Kenneth J. Bauder. While attending college in South Carolina in 1950, she met Earl Perry on a blind date, moved to Georgia, and married. She later graduated from Women’s College of Georgia, now known as Georgia College, in Milledgeville, GA.
Micki was a wonderful mother to her three children, all who survive, Karen Higginbotham (husband Don) of Atlanta, GA, Pam Perry of Newport News, VA, and Rick Perry (wife Marie) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, She had 6 grandchildren, Ryan (Morgan) Perry, Cristin (Jason) Dillard, Jacob Malonson, Rachel Malonson, Luke Perry and Ema Perry, and 4 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cole and Reece Dillard, and Carson Perry. Micki is also survived by sisters-in-law Martha Black, Grace Robertson and Shirley Perry, her cousin and his family, Bob (Joan) Bauder. Micki is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Early “Earl” Perry.
Micki had a 35-year career as a math teacher, while raising her family. She had a great influence on many students before she retired in 1989 from the DeKalb County Schools.
She was known as “Grams” and was truly devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and Georgia Bulldog fan. She also enjoyed travelling, socializing with friends, solving puzzles, playing games and holiday traditions with family.
A longtime resident of Stone Mountain and Villa Rica, GA, Micki spent the last 5 years in assistant living and memory care, most recently at KingsBridge Retirement Community in Atlanta.
Family and friends will gather at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in celebration and remembrance of Micki. Visitation hours are from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. A family service will be held that same day at 4:00PM at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Hull, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Micki’s memory to a dementia related charity or to any teacher/school of your choice.
