Mary Jackson Mapoles, 91, of Decatur, Georgia, peacefully passed away on May 17, 2024. Born on September 13, 1932, in Augusta, Georgia, Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.
Mary dedicated over 20 years of her life working at the Presbyterian Board of Pensions and later found joy working as a hostess at her son Greg Mapoles' Chick-fil-A restaurant on North Druid Hills Road.
A woman of passion and lifelong curiosity, Mary enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She took pride in maintaining a beautiful tidy home, always ensuring her grass was cut and flowers were blooming. Mary's love for her grandchildren was evident in the collection of VHS movies and snacks she kept for them. She was a member of North Decatur United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by son, William Gregory Mapoles; daughter, Susan Mapoles Williams; daughter-in-law, Laurie Johnson Mapoles; son-in- law, Brad Williams; grandsons, Eric William Johnson Mapoles and Emory James Williams, and granddaughters, Emily Anne Hunt, Erin Marie Parkison, Madeline Kate McEntire, Amelia Reese Williams, Holland Li Mei Williams and Mandy Butler. Her extended family of great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews held a special place in heart as do the many friends she's made throughout her life.
A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Tucker, Georgia, at 11:00 am.
Mary's legacy of curiosity, compassion, family values, and hard work will continue to inspire all who knew her.
