Luther Wesley Hinds, age 76, died of complications from a stroke on January 28, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vivene (Sandy) Patrick-Hinds, of Den Amstel West Coast Demerara, Guyana; his 11 children, Caren, Wesley, Hansworth, Rodlyn, Elizabeth, Aquasi, Dholwin (Kojo), Gillian (Sindy), Degera, Tracy, Krystelle, his 38 grandchildren, Emila, Alicia, Selwyn, Mekisha, Hussain, Baniynah, Jeremy, Shamar, Denisha, Shamar (Tyrek) Wesley’s son, Tiffany, Tia, Lisa, Janelle, Hansworth III , Angel, Shaquille, Tupac, Venus, Lennox (Junior), Jamaul, Jayquan, Raedeen, Zoèe, Abigail, Zhorna, Zhoria, Faith, Uziah, Reaiah, Jilleah (Angelise), Kenziah (Kaelon), Kyree, Elizabeth, Akeem, Bryson, Martin, Ariana, his 17 great grandchildren, Amiel, Ackeyla, Anika, Angelica, Colyssa, Zayne, Zachary, Janero, Tiago, Kailani, Kahless, Kira, Hansworth IV, Hanila, Jamari, Jovante, & Xylien along with his three surviving brothers Lynn, Monoah, and Mitchell Hinds; nieces and nephews Griswald, Ann, Jocelyn, Minerva, Brenda, Leslie, Slyvanus, George, Fernand, Glenvis, Cleveland, Dolis, Hannalee, Valmae, Cledwinn, Julianna, Evelyn, Shirley and 82 others; 150 great nieces and nephews; 50 great-great nieces and nephews and cousins, Brent, Clayton, Cedric, Zepherine, Walvid, Erlene, Erna, Eulyn, Ratliff, Elsa, Arville, Maycil, Rowell, Lytton, Elaine, Vasco, Celestine, Donald, Iantha, Maycinth, Patrick, Nold, Whitney, Windett, Aaron and many, many more.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eaten and Leontine and siblings William, Erwin, Ernis, Wendell, Georgina, Richard, Grace, Nelson, Esther, Kenneth, and George, of Baracara Berbice, Guyana.

Luther Wesley Hinds was born on November 24, 1947 in Canje Creek, Baracara Berbice, Guyana to parents Eaten Alexson (Dann) Hinds and Leontine Dejonge of Baracara Berbice, Guyana. Upon immigrating to the United States of America (USA) , he successfully graduated from Connecticut Driving School, Inc. in 1990 with his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) certification. In 1992 he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and accepted a position as a Commercial Truck Driver at Apac Trucking Inc. where he worked for more than 10 years before becoming an entrepreneur owning his own Trucking Company, Aquasi’s Trucking Inc.

Luther Wesley Hinds was a generous and hardworking man who enjoyed living life to the fullest. He married Vivene Patrick in 1976 and the couple had five children together, Rodlyn, Aquasi, Dholwin (Kojo), Gillian (Sindy) and Degera.

He was a social and active man who was deeply involved in his church for most of his life. He enjoyed listening to music, cooking for his loved ones, and repairing and fixing various types of machinery and things around the home. His family and friends will always remember him as being selfless, devoted, and eager to assist others in any way possible. He was truly a jack of all trades.

Luther Wesley Hinds’ viewing will be held at Ellenwood New Hope Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Saturday February 10th from 6pm-8pm at 3979 Panthersville Rd. Ellenwood, GA 30294 with a wake (Celebration of Life) to follow at Brook Glen Clubhouse, 3780 Brown Dr. Decatur, GA. 30034. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Luther’s life.

His funeral service is scheduled to take place on Sunday February 11th from 10am-12pm at Lilburn Global Christian Ministry at 908 Killian Hill Rd. SW, Lilburn, GA 30047; followed by his burial at Floral Hills Funeral Home at 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084. Join us as we give a royal send off to our gentle giant, Luther.
