Josiah Francis Layton of Stone Mountain, GA died at Embracing Hospice Unit in Snellville, GA on January 13th, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Josiah H. Layton and Rose Mary Gorman; his brother, Peter John Layton; and his son, Josiah Francis Layton, Jr. Formerly of New Jersey and Panama City, FL, Josiah resided in Georgia for the last 22 years of his life. Josiah "Joe" Layton retired from General Motors Corp. located in Linden, New Jersey in 1988 and was a former member of the Lakewood First Aid Squad. He was also a member of the Panama City Chapter of the Optimist Club. While living in the Panama City, FL area he was also involved with the youth as a coach for the Springfield Toreadors. After moving to Georgia, Joe worked as superintendent for Wood Partners Residential Construction Corp. until his retirement in 2009. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, gardening, sports, and photography. His favorite pasttime was time spent with family. Survivors of Josiah Layton include his wife of 41 years, Maryann Gawlik Layton; three sons, Robert Joseph Layton and wife Angela Calabrese, Howard Joseph Layton, and Sean Patrick Layton; two daughters, Robin Layton Keller and husband David, and Kathleen Layton; two brothers and two sisters, Robert D. Layton and wife Susan, Kevin J. Layton and wife Pamela, Rosemary P. Layton and Marion Theresa Layton Lemoine and husband Timothy; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly, Garrett, Christian, Kyle, Tyler, Austin, Jacob, and Taylor; four great grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, Reagan, and Riley; 16 nieces and nephews, both first and second generation. The Honorary Pall Bearers are as follows: Tyler Layton, Timothy Lemoine, James Lemoine, Vincent Tassitano, Donald Tassitano, and Shaun Mapel.
