James “Jim” “Jake” “Mo” Moleta, 81, passed away at home on March 28, 2025, in Tucker, GA, with family by his side. Jim had survived a major stroke with paralysis and other afflictions for over three years.
Jim was born in Guttenberg, NJ, on February 23, 1944. He grew up in New Jersey where he graduated from Memorial High School, WNY, and Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, for both his undergraduate degree and his MBA. After his marriage in 1971 to Lucille Melone, a girl he had known since high school, they ultimately settled in Whippany, NJ for five years. In the fall of 1977, Jim moved his family, now including two young sons, James Arthur and Matthew Joseph, to Tucker, GA, where he continued his 40 year career in software and technology sales. Jim traveled the globe, conducting sales throughout the U.S. as well as Canada, Australia, and the U.K.
Jim enjoyed vacationing on Hilton Head with special friends, spending time cooking gourmet meals for family and friends, playing golf, and serving with the Knights of Columbus and other church ministries. He was a competitive athlete and an avid New York Yankees, Knicks, and Giants fan who also cheered for the Florida State Seminoles. Jim loved spending time with people; whether he was entertaining others with humorous anecdotes, training a sales force, or performing songs at weddings, Jim brought joy, laughter, and love to so many relatives, schoolmates, professional colleagues, neighbors, parishioners, golf buddies, and numerous other friends who counted themselves fortunate to have known him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Florence (Osteen) Moleta. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Lucy Melone (102 ½ years old); wife of 53 years, Lucille; sons James A. (Abigail) and Matthew (Kimberly); his three grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, and Maggie; his sister, Marie Adams (Elvin); his three nieces Elise (Richard), Nancy (Jason), and Julie (Nate); many other relatives too numerous to count.
