James L Hansard, age 91 of Tucker Georgia went home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 12, 2025. He was a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who will be greatly missed. He was a retired entrepreneur in the healthcare industry in the Atlanta area.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Sue Virginia Heath Hansard who passed on March 29, 2022 in Tucker, GA., his father James Crawford Hansard who passed away in 1978 in Cumming, GA., his mother Ruby Mae Sudderth Hansard who passed away 1997 in Cumming, GA., brother Herbert Hansard of Cumming, GA., and brother Thedford Hansard of Dawsonville, GA.
He is survived by his loving family members: daughters, Lisa Hansard Carroll and Linda Hansard Mixon and sons James D. Hansard and Jeffrey Heath Hansard. He was devoted to his 10 grandchildren, Brandi Gibson Callahan, Barry Gibson, Michael K Mixon, Robert J Mixon, Audra Hansard Blackburn, Jared Hansard, Kristina Hansard, Jacob Hansard, MacKenzie Hansard and Neve Hansard. He will be missed by his 14 great grandchildren, James Oliver Callahan, Patrick Sawyer Callahan, Michael Archer Callahan, Kassandra Mixon, Corbin Blackburn, Hudson Hansard, Adeline Mixon, Ariella Blackburn, Sophia Hansard, Jade Blackburn, Gil Brandon Eskayo, Cailyn Ann Teague, Ashlyn Stevenson, and Finlay Stevenson.
He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and moved to Cumming Georgia at the age of five.
He was a Marine Corp Sargent during the Korean War.
He was a graduate of Georgia State University, where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Management in 1961.

He was a member of Peachtree Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia (PBC) since 1961. He faithfully served in the Children’s department as caretaker and teacher. Then served as Men’s Sunday School teacher until 2024. He was a deacon of the church since 1965. He held the positions of President of PBC and Chairman of the Church Council and Chairman of the Financial Committee from 2010 through 2019.
A celebration of James‘s life will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 2 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Internment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 12 to 2 PM at the funeral home.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made on behalf of James Hansard to the Tunnels to Tower Foundation at t2t.org
