James Hugh Capps III or as most know as “Jimmy”, passed away suddenly on the early morning of Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 50 years of age. Jimmy was born on December 8, 1973 in East Point, GA at South Fulton Medical Center to the late James “Jim” Hugh Capps II and Dianna Strickland Capps of Tucker, GA.
Anybody who had met Jimmy, knew him for his sense of humor. He could easily brighten a room with jokes and laughter. He was an avid lover of the Atlanta Falcons and the Braves, but more than anything he was a die hard fan of the Georgia Bulldogs; a passion in which he instilled into his children and close family members. Jimmy owned a landscaping business in his hometown of Tucker, Ga where he cared for brother Brian with autism after the death of his parents in 2021 and 2022. He enjoyed rebuilding old cars and as a child, cried at his first time seeing a junkyard with his grandpa, wondering why they were all broken. He shared his mothers love of music and his fathers love of history. But more than anything, Jimmy loved his children with all of his heart.
Jimmy is survived by his two children; son - Joshua Hugh Capps of Tucker, GA, and Daughter - Ryleigh Megan Capps of Roswell, GA. His siblings - Laura Ann Capps of Oxford, GA; Debbie and Larry Sipes of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and Brian Scott Capps of Tucker, GA. Grandmother - Eleanor Rose Strickland, 98, of Columbus, GA. Nephew - Michael and Brittany Capps of Bethlehem, GA. Nieces - Kayla Marie Sipes of Demorest, GA; Emily Lynn Sipes of Buford, GA; Danielle and late Dane Gilliland of Athens, GA. 8 Great nieces - Summer, Addyson, and Payton Capps; Braelyn and Addilyn Sipes; Reagen Gossow; Natalie Gilliland and Kennedy Jones. As well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father James Hugh Capps II of Tucker, GA; his mother Dianna Stickland Capps of Tucker, GA, as well as the mother of children - Megan Suzanne Capps of Tucker, GA.
Jimmy was taken too soon and will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but we can rejoice in peace knowing that he will be met by our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven and his family and friends that have gone before him.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore..." Rev. 21:4
A funeral service for Jimmy will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cremation, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084.
