Jim was born on January 17, 1947, in Asheville, NC. Jim retired from Delta Airlines after 33 years of service. Before his tenure at Delta, Jim was a proud United States Air Force veteran. Jim served from 1965 to 1971 as a loadmaster on a C-130 Hercules and flew to multiple locations worldwide while assigned to England, Okinawa, Thailand, Vietnam, McGuire AFB, NJ, and Langley, AFB, VA. While in Vietnam, Jim served on a combat aircrew with the 21st TAS (Blind Bat), receiving six Air Medals for aerial combat missions for his heroism and meritorious action. Jim lived his life serving the Lord and was a beloved husband for 53 years, a dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, uncle, brother, and friend. Jim was a patient and kind man who greatly influenced others who knew him. He was a major history buff and loved to sit and tell stories of the past. Jim will be rejoiced to be greeted by his wife, Dianna, his parents, family members, and friends that have gone before him. Although he will be sorely missed by those he left behind, we can rest easy knowing that he is walking happily and healthily in Heaven, and it is in Heaven that we will be able to hug him again.
