Donna Marie Elaine Remakie, affectionately known as “Peaches,” was a devoted lifelong partner, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and niece, as well as a hard-working woman who was known for her love of family. Donna was born on October 31, 1962 in Kingston, Jamaica to Nellie Marston and Lloyd Remekie. Donna had a number of siblings between her parents. Her greatest joy were her two children, Terry-Ann and Audie.
Donna attended St. Peter Claver Primary School where she participated in many festivals as a member of the school’s dance troupe, had her glory days at Excelsior High, and attended Fitz Henley Business school where she formed some lifelong friendships. Donna enjoyed a 40 year career in the hospitality industry. Her favorite role was working as a travel agent. While working at Jetaway Travel, she was in charge of the University of the West Indies Campus Travel office. Donna was lauded for the dedication and service she provided the university faculty. It was a common joke among family, that Donna was never on vacation, as her company laptop was always within reach and employees and customers could access her 24/7. Donna continued with this work ethic even at her last job at La Quinta where no matter how ill she felt, she always showed up for work.
Donna was a family oriented, private, selfless, kind and genuine person. To know her was to love her. Again, her greatest loves were Terry-Ann and Audie. Her favorite pastime was gardening. She loved tending her plants. She transformed any living space with her prolific green thumb. She was very fashionable and family members were recipients of her accessorizing skills. Her adventurous spirit left no stone unturned.
On March 17, 2022, a heart of gold stopped beating and two beautiful eyes closed in final rest. God broke our hearts when he took you, but we know He only takes the best. Just know that when you left, you did not go alone as part of us went with you. Rest in eternal peace our beautiful partner, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, stepparent and friend.
