Christa Benoit Fey, a vibrant soul whose music and kindness touched many lives, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2025. Born on November 6, 1969 in Edison, New Jersey to Mike and Valerie Benoit, Christa grew up in Sandy Springs, Georgia where her love for music began to shine.
A 1987 graduate of Riverwood High School, Christa was a standout member of both the gymnastics team and the school orchestra, where she played the cello with grace and skill. Her talent earned her a music scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In her junior year, she transferred to the University of Georgia, continuing her musical journey on another well-deserved scholarship.
In 2000, Christa married Michael Fey in Atlanta, Georgia, beginning a new chapter of her life with love and family. Two years later in July 2002, she welcomed her greatest joy, her son, Joseph Fey. Alongside raising Joseph, Christa built a career in the property and casualty insurance industry. As an underwriter, she excelled first in personal lines and later in commercial business, bringing her sharp mind and dedication to every task. Yet music remained a constant thread in her life - she continued to play cello as part of a quartet, filling weekends and holidays with melody.
Christa's warmth, talent and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of her son, Joseph, her parents, Mike and Valerie Benoit, her sisters, Stephanie Gilbert, Carla Sanford (Lance), Allison McCaul, her brother, Michael, her nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In her memory, donations can be made to St. Ann's St. Vincent de Paul or to Furkids.
