Bobbie F. Barber

Bobbie Fortner Barber, a long-time resident of Tucker, Georgia, peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord on February 3, 2025, in Cumming, Georgia, where she was a resident at The Oaks Assistant Living.

Bobbie was the loving wife of LD Barber, Jr., for 70 years until his passing in 2021. She was the daughter of Clyde Elijah Fortner, Sr., and Dovie Magnolia Garrett Fortner. She was a loving mother, doting grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and mentor to countless people. Bobbie was born in Marietta, Georgia on July 31, 1932. Later, her family moved to Tucker, Georgia, where she attended Tucker Elementary and High School. She and LD married in 1950, shortly after she finished High School, after being friends since Elementary School.

She was raised in a Christian home and received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and was baptized in a small pond off Cooledge Road in Tucker. Later, she and her family became members of Briarlake Baptist Church in 1958 while still meeting at the Briarlake Elementary School. She taught 3rd grade Sunday School for 12 years, volunteered in the community co-op with the Agape Sunday School Class, and remained involved in many aspects of church and community life rooted in her faith

and pursuit of knowing Christ and making Him known. In recent years, Bobbie’s lifelong love of Bible study, prayer, and sharing the love of Jesus continued throughout her life, even until her promotion to the presence of the Lord. She lived life well right up until the end.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband, LD Barber, her parents, and siblings, Clyde (Jean) Fortner and Elizabeth (Billy) Fortner Bolton. She is survived by her four loving children, Connie Corbin, Jill (Gary) Tabor, Beth (Danny) Keener, and Gregory Barber. Her eight grandchildren and their families also survive her: Kaitlin Barber; Amy (Morgan) Corbin Stallings and children (Jackson, Charlotte, Garrett); Evan (Laura) Corbin and their four children (Mason, Wyatt, Lilly, Ava Grace); Britt (Janna) Tabor and their two children (Blake, Brittan); Shelly (Jason) Tabor Blalock and children (Tabor, Garon, Kella); Stevie (Luke) Tabor Stigler and children (Colton, Aubrey); and Kaysi (Josh) Keener Tucker and child (Owen); Scott (Sarah) Keener and children (Elijah, Kinsey).

A visitation for Bobbie will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cremation, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. A funeral service will occur Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. A graveside service will occur Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084.
