Al is survived by his wife, Kathy, his daughter Cris Hughes, his son Jeff Tisdall, (wife, Randi) and Granddaughters, Sam Hughes, and Sidney Hughes, Lexi Tisdall, Leni Tisdall, and Grandson Madex Tisdall. He is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Tisdall.
Al was born on March 16, 1950 in New York City to parents Erna Marx and Mark Anthony Tisdall. He grew up in South Jersey in what he called ‘the greatest time in history’. He loved the ocean, digging clams, Garvey racing, and rat patrolling. He was a volunteer firefighter in Parkertown, NJ.
A big Phillies fan, he was so thrilled to go to a Phillies dream baseball camp in 1987 and was the team MVP, who enjoyed the spotlight of being interviewed by Richie Ashburn.
He spent his life’s work doing construction, starting in 1977 building houses in New Jersey. In the late 80’s, he moved to Florida and in 1994, settled in Georgia focusing on Kitchen and Bath Renovation. He loved his client base and went out of the way to be fair and honest, often going above and beyond while creating life-long friendships.
Al was married in 1969 to Robin Riemer, and together they had their daughter Cris. In 1979, Al remarried Barbara Dreger, and together they had two sons, Douglas and Jeffrey.
A real showman, Al never missed an opportunity to tell a joke and make everyone laugh. He was an amazing story-teller and had a unique personality that was adored by many.
Simply put, Al loved people. He loved to make them laugh. He loved to encourage young people to be their best. He coached little league sports for 13 years and enjoyed going to his bonus grand’s, Dalton, Tucker and Harper Hitt's ballgames.
His family and friends were very important to him. He enjoyed working with his son Jeff for over 20 years and visiting with his daughter every year. His grandchildren have fond memories of him grilling out back and spending time with him. He shared many adventures throughout the years with his closest friend and partner in crime, Bob Bonello. In the two years that he and Kathy were together, they packed a lifetime of memories in their traveling adventures.
His only two regrets were not writing his book that would have corrected the world and waiting 70 years to meet the love of his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to In Touch Ministries (intouch.org), FHMV Baptist Church (fhmvbaptist.church), and/or The Salvation Army Georgia Division (southernusa.salvationarmy.org/Georgia).
