Timothy J. LeJeune, age 68 of Traverse City passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on January 29, 2016. He was born on March 31, 1947 in Chicago, Il to Edward and Eileen LeJeune. Timothy was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame University. During his time there, he met the love his life; Beatrice Jordan. She loved meeting all of his Notre Dame friends and all the dances they shared together. Tim and Bea were married on September 28, 1973 in Chicago. He worked in the downtown Chicago Social Security office and was promoted to the Traverse City office in 1982. He and his wife loved raising their 5 children in such a beautiful, warm and caring place. He shared his love for the outdoors with his family, giving them the opportunity to live in such a place where they could enjoy every season by the bay and the woods behind their house. He was a proud member of the Traverse City Ancient Order of Hibernians. He held several offices and enjoyed all the men in the group. Tim was an avid golfer and played on a league for over 20 years. He loved cross country skiing and competing in the VASA races. He also treasured taking his family up into the woods and pulling the little ones around on sleds. Tim and Bea also enjoyed travelling. They would pack up the family, all 7 of them, into a little minivan and travel around the United States. Tim’s love for his family was unconditional.
Timothy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years; Beatrice, children; James, Alison, Kevin, Colin (Dr. Cecilia Smith) and Brendan; grandchild; Bruce and Simone. He was the brother of Brian, Terry, Maureen (Jack) Harty, Shannon and Kitty (Steve) Schechter. Brother in law of Barb LeJeune. A very loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tim is also survived by many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eileen LeJeune, sister; Sheila McGee and brother, Dennis LeJeune. Even after his death, Tim continues to help those in need. He was a donor to Gift of Life, which comforts all who loved him.
Bea and her family are overwhelmed by all the words and gestures of love, kindness and compassion given to them during this difficult time.
The family looks forward to seeing everyone at their home on the shores of East Bay on July 23, 2016, beginning at 4pm to celebrate all the joys that Tim has given to each of us.
