Sue was born on October 29, 1949 in Traverse City, the daughter of Dwight and Velma (Moyer) Cook. With three sisters, Sue had a busy childhood. She always had horses, graduated from Traverse City Senior High on June 13, 1968, and attended NMC. She married Douglas Stephens and raised two daughters. Sue worked in the mailroom and was a receptionist at Lakes States Insurance in Traverse City for many years. She enjoyed boating with her family, needlepoint, making latch hook rugs, bird watching, and everyone knew to never bother her during Days of Our Lives! Above all, Sue had a special place in her heart for her dog, My-Ty and her nieces and nephews.
Sue was a loving mother who always tried her best. She is survived by her mother, Velma Cook; ex-husband, Douglas Stephens; daughters, Jamie (Paul) Steffes and Jordan Stephens; sisters, Debbie West, Jo (Jon) Powell, and Johnna (Terry) Broadway; nieces and nephews, Kara West, Shainna (Cody) Webster, Lexy Powell, and Kyle and Drew Broadway; great nephews, Anakin and Korbyn Webster, and Ty West; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sue’s father, Dwight Cook, preceded her in death.
