Bob was born June 7, 1943, In Detroit, Michigan to Lester A. Wamsley and Evelyn (Halvary) Wamsley and was the middle child among older sister Marcia (Ken) Grange and younger brother Ross H. Wamsley. His father worked in marketing for auto supplies and spent much of the time traveling for business. His mother was an operating room nurse at Munson Medical Center.
After his family relocated from Detroit to Traverse City in his early childhood he attended Traverse City schools and then attended college and Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. He met and married his former wife of 13 years JoAnne (DeNoyer) Lehr and had 3 children Scott, Rick and Michell.
Bob will always be remembered for his quick and mischievous sense of humor and artistic mind he enjoyed spending time with close friends and family as well as working on various creative projects. He always supported his kids sporting events and school activities, rarely missing a game, track meet or music performance.
Bob was always very creative in every facet of his life. As a draftsman, he and his wife JoAnne at the time worked as a Civilian Contractors for the U.S Navy in Port Hueneme and Point Mugu, stationed in California where he liked to joke how he worked for months to sketch a door. As soon as their service ended they were ready to return to Traverse City where he began working for the Traverse City Iron Works. He spent the remaining years of his career as an Abstractor in the Real Estate Title / Insurance business. He used his Creative and artistic ability to design and build his home with his kids and other family members that provided quality time with his family as well as a cabin on the Manistee River he built and mutually owned with his life long friends. He especially enjoyed and appreciated the outdoors in Northern Michigan, during his life he enjoyed playing golf, boating and camping with his family and friends. Some of his favorite places included exploring Michigans Upper Peninsula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ross H. Wamsley and his son Rick A. Wamsley.
He is survived by his Sister Marcia (Ken) Grange, Sister in-Law Jewel Wamsley, his son Scott L. Wamsley, his daughter Michell L. (Wamsley) Susz. His grandchildren Spencer Wamsley, Zachary Wamsley, Morgan Susz, Maylin Susz and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at 12:00 pm on October 18, 2019 at Oakwood cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Munson Hospice.
