Richard J. Werstine

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and served his country for 3 years in Germany. Upon his return home he began working for Detroit Diesel where he worked until his retirement in 2000. He studied business and psychology at Oakland Community College. He loved to read and was a wiz at Trivial Pursuit. He enjoyed golfing, jazz music, and he was a huge Red Wings Fan. Richard was a long time member of the U.A.W.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Despina (Mouyianis); children: Rena (Jim) Hicks, Richard Werstine, and Mary Ellen Werstine; 2 grandchildren: Madeline Rose and Samuel Moon Hicks; Sister Mary Jane (Ernest) Giordano; several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, brothers: Bill, Bob, and John Werstine, and a sister Joanne Homrich.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11a.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Visitation will be 1 hour prior.
