Stark, (née Nogrady), Nancy Josephine age 84; of Traverse City; died October 8, 2017; at Munson Hospital in Traverse City, MI. She was born August 6, 1933, in Grand Rapids, MI to Joseph and Mary Nogrady. Nancy grew up in Grand Rapids and was a proud Union High West Sider. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in journalism and went to work as a reporter for the Royal Oak Daily Tribune. She had a long career there and was well-respected covering school districts in southeast Michigan before leaving to be the public information director for the Oakland County Intermediate School District. An avid reader and writer, she loved the written word and read up to three print newspapers a day right up until the end.
She was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Royal Oak and a longtime member of the church choir. She also sang with the Royal Oak Musicale. She loved to travel, watch the Tigers and the Red Wings. She was a passionate game player, everything from cards to backgammon and everything in between. Her love of television cooking shows dates back to the original "The French Chef" hosted by Julia Child. She loved to engage in a passionate debate on the topics of the day, books, movies and more with her family and many close friends.
She is survived by her children Peter (Nichole) Stark of Cedar, MI, Daniel (Sue) Stark of Traverse City, MI, Andrew Stark of Seattle, WA, Susan Stark of Forest Park, IL. She also was survived by her nephew Michael (Marianne) Nogrady of Newton Highlands, MA; a great-nephew and a great-neice.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Leslie Nogrady and his wife Evelyn, Robert Nogrady and Eugene Nogrady. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at First Congregational Church of Royal Oak, 1314 Northwood Blvd. Royal Oak, MI.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the First Congregational Church of Royal Oak choir programs or the Royal Oak Musicale.
