Marsha L. Shindorf

Marsha was born on February 12, 1950 in Howell, Michigan to Ernest and Mildred (Thomas) Richmond. She graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1968 and went on to Ferris State College to earn a degree in Industrial Chemistry. While at Ferris she shared a class with her future husband, Bob Shindorf. They married on December 7, 1973. She later went on to earn a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy from Wayne State. Marsha and Bob raised their family of five children in Warren, Michigan until 1990 when they moved to Traverse City.

Marsha had many joys in life. She enjoyed music from a young age. She played clarinet in high school and college. She sang in The RichTones, a barbershop quartet, with her father, mother and sister. When her children were young she enjoyed travelling around Michigan, especially to the Upper Peninsula. The family would camp in the state parks and hike the trails to spot as many waterfalls as possible. Marsha also enjoyed planting flowers and gardening a little in her spare time as well. As time went on she developed a love of languages. She devoted herself to learning Hebrew. After a few years she began teaching herself other languages as well, such as French and Italian. Marsha’s greatest joy, however, was her granddaughter. Marsha was a devoted “Grammy”, she showered love and affection on Addison every chance she could.

Above all, Marsha was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was generous with everything she had and provided for her family in so many ways. Marsha will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Marsha is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bob; mother, Mildred Richmond; sister, Deborah (John) Brooks; brothers, Richard (Vickie) and Mark (Patricia); sons, Gerald Richmond, James, David, and Robert Jr.; daughter, Melissa (Adam) Burgh; and granddaughter, Addison Lynette Burgh.

She was preceded in death by her father Ernest Richmond.

A Memorial Service will be held at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City on Friday August 3, 2018 at 11 a.m.
