Emma was born on August 31, 1922 in Traverse City, the daughter of Samuel and Nora (Chupp) Johns. On Sept. 1, 1943, she married Paul B. Maleski in Muskegon. Emma lived her life for others. Her days were spent gardening, canning, and taking care of her husband and children on the family farm in Leelanau County. As her children grew and had families of their own, Emma made sure to spend time with her grandchildren, taking them fishing in the creek, baking pies, and making wonderful memories. Later in life, Emma also had the opportunity to serve as a caregiver at Solon Nursing Home and in the kitchen at the Elks Lodge.
Emma is survived by two of her children, Terry (Barbara) Maleski and Regina Johnson; grandchildren, Lori (Jeff) Rotman, Daniel (Emily) Dalzell, James (Judy) Leach, Paul Maleski, Monica Maleski, TJ Maleski, Emily (Jason) Isenhauser, and Tammie Johnson; 15 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and siblings, George Johns and Sandra Carson.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Samuel and Nora Johns; husband, Paul B. Maleski; daughter, Barbara Dalzell; sisters, Ruby Johns, Betty VanZee, Mary Kirby, and Arlene Chouinard; brothers, Mack Johns, Jerald Johns, and William Johns; grandson, David Dalzell; and great grandson, Paul Dalzell.
