Donna Mae (Sivek) James passed away on March 3, 2015, at Birchwood Nursing Home in Traverse City, Michigan. Donna was born to Herman and Ida Evans in Brainerd, Minnesota on July 17, 1930. She was an elementary school teacher in Minnesota but met and married John “Jack” Sivek in her favorite place to visit, Traverse City. Donna continued teaching in Traverse City, including substitute teaching, while having a family with Jack Sivek. After teaching, Donna was employed as the executive, administrative secretary for Traverse City Light and Power. When Jack Sivek passed away in 1987, Donna married Delus “Del” James. Del passed away in 2009.
Donna was a tireless worker and dedicated Christian. She prayed for sons and always expressed thanks to God for giving her three boys. Donna helped several other children by being a foster parent. She loved her friends and enjoyed playing bridge and bowling.
Donna is survived by her sons, John, Marc (Natalie) and Steve (Kris) and seven grandchildren: Jonathan, Joseph, Travis, Reece, Hannah, Trevor, Nichole. Donna wished not to have a memorial service. She asked that donations be given to the National Psoriasis Foundation.
Donna's favorite scripture: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
