Steven Arnold Hassoldt was born the middle child of Elizabeth and Arnold Hassoldt on August 4, 1953. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young boy. He was baptized and sang in the church choir. Growing up, he loved fishing, building model rockets, photography, and gardening. He was fascinated by the space program and one day hoped to become an astronaut. He would later pass some of these interests to his sons. He played trumpet in the band at West High School in Torrance and then attended El Camino College. He transferred to Long Beach State University where he majored in Business Administration and eventually graduated with a bachelor’s degree. After some early entrepreneurial attempts in Photography, he became a residential real estate appraiser. It was a profession that would bring him lasting relationships and sustain him for most of his adult life until he retired in 2024. He married his first wife, Mary Baird, in November 1978. The short-lived relationship gifted him three sons: Matthew, Michael, and Mark.
He met the love of his life, Pat Fulmer, in 1993 and became a father to her three girls: Barbara, Kara, and Rebecca. They married in 2002 and spent many happy years traveling, square dancing, attending church, and arranging their beautiful home and garden.
Steve fought bravely against cancer for years, taking each day as it came. As his faith was tested, its power was proved. After a long battle, he passed peacefully on September 7, 2024. He is survived by his wife, three sons, three daughters, four granddaughters, two grandsons, and his sister Jan. Beloved husband, son, brother, and Dad.
