She was born to parents Florence Holte and Helmer Holte, on October 9, 1951 in Moorhead, Minnesota. Sandra is deeply connected to the Clay County area of Minnesota and was Sandra was always proud of her Norwegian heritage. After graduating from Barnesville High School she moved to Minneapolis to live with her Aunt and Uncle and went to work at the University of Minnesota.
While working in Parking Services at the University, Sandy met John Huhn. The two were married in Rothsay, Minnesota on August 12, 1972. A few years later they moved to California and together they raised 3 children: Katie Parks , Jeffrey, Matthew. Sandra was proud Grandma to Diego Huhn, Maki’Lee Huhn, Charley Huhn, Grady Parks, and Finly Parks.
Sandra worked in the Car Rental industry and enjoyed her career. Sandra proved her resilience as a hardworking, ethical businesswoman. She always enjoyed her co-workers and the unexpected drama that days and nights would bring to make work so interesting.
Sandra has always been fond of sewing, all different crafts, kintting, crocheting and most importantly quilting. She enjoyed making gifts for her family and those in need and was always sharing her works of arts with others. Sandra was a proud supporter of her kids activities. Sandra loved music, watching TV dramas and watched several different sporting activities.
In her recent years, Sandra was a part of The Yarn Angels and worked hard to complete donations such as hats, blankets and anything else she could create for different organizations in the community. She attended monthly meetings and involved family in her projects. Sandra went to watch her grandkids sports, was an avid player of online games, such as Scrabble, and frequently contributed funny stories and jokes to Facebook.
Sandra is survived by her husband John, daughter Katie and husband Stoney Parks, son Jeffrey and wife Barbara, and son Matthew. She is also survived by her mother Florence: sister Lenora Arntson and husband Buzz, brother Gayle Holte and wife Julie. She will be missed by cousins, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews and in-laws and everyone that was blessed to know her.
Sandra was preceded in death by her Dad Helmer Holte, her older brother Lester Holte, nephew Landon Arntson, and sister Jennifer Hagen.
Over the years Sandra has overcome many medical conditions, beaten Colon Cancer and had various hospitalizations. With an ongoing heart valve condition, COPD, and Ephysema she was not able to withstand further treatments. In December 2020 Doctor’s and Sandra made the determination to return home and no longer be isolated from family. Sandra was able to enjoy the comforts of home and visit with immediate family.
The family has entrusted Rice Mortuary with the arrangements. A Service is scheduled for January 19, 2021 at 2p.m. to be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery. At this time a reception will not follow. Scott Elliott will officiate the ceremony. A burial and celebration of life will be planned for August 7, 2021 in Minnesota.
Diego, Maki’lee, Charley, Grady and Finly will always be getting a special kick in the butt from her.
