Dick served his country in the United States Navy. He also worked in the aerospace industry as an engineer for over 45 years. In 1994 after retiring from TRW/Northrop Grumman for 30 years he embarked on a new career at Aerospace. Dick enjoyed people and puttering around with electronics - he was known affectionately as "the gadget man." Dick loved to fly fish in Montana, and especially enjoyed his trips to Scotland and his travels around the U.S.
He is survived by his loving bride, Betty of 34 years, his brother Art and sister-in-law Phyllis Hazen of Wyoming, his cousins in Montana, Ohio and Texas and his many devoted friends, who will all miss his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Hazen.
A celebration of Dick's life will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 10:00AM at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA 90503. A reception will immediately follow in the Rice Mortuary Lighthouse Reception Room at the same location. Interment will be held at a later date in Bozeman, Montana.
In lieu of flowers, Betty request donations are made to The American Cancer Society.
