Raymond Eugene Diekmann

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Rosena; his wife Sherrie; and his brother Ken. He is survived by his children Debra (Robert) and Scott (Bobbie); his grandchildren Kyla, Jesi, Cody, Rebecca, and Robert; his sisters Maxine, Joyce, and Donna.

Raymond was born May 26, 1939, in Remsen, Iowa. He moved to Gardena, California with his parents in 1943. Ray graduated from Gardena High School in 1958 and joined the US Navy the same year. He spent  four years in the Navy which was his favorite topic to talk about in his final days. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Ray went to work for Sav-on Drugstores where he spent the next 32 years, many of which as a store manager until his retirement in 1996. While working for Sav-on, Ray met and married Sherrie. They enjoyed a wonderful life until Sherrie succumbed to cancer in 1989.

Ray spent his retirement doing the things he loved. Daily morning bike rides on the beach after a morning donut and coffee, trips to Hawaii, Alaska and Australia, traveling the states in his motorhome with girlfriend Jeanne, camping with his son Scott’s family, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.

Raymond was the best Dad to his children and the most loving Papa to his grandchildren. He was loved beyond measure and will be dearly missed.
