Matthew was born January 7, 1935 in Calliaqua, St. Vincent. He immigrated to the United Kingdom with his wife Shirlan Aberdeen and their three children, Randolph, Dawn, and Jennifer.
In 1970, Matthew moved to Los Angeles, California and began a 30 year career in the construction industry. In 1975, he married Lois (Richardson) Leverett. Their romance lasted 47 years.
Through the years, Matthew enjoyed watching old westerns, going on cruises, working on cars, singing in his church choir, serving on the usher board, and especially spending time with his grandchildren in California and Arizona. They brought him so much joy and happiness.
After retiring in the early 2000s, Matthew became king of his backyard. That’s where he could be found growing vegetables in his garden, firing up the grill, or tinkering in the garage. And, of course, sharing lots of advice and guidance with the neighborhood kids.
Matthew was blessed with a large, loving family. He is preceded in death by his mother Florence Craig, his brother Owen Craig and a sister. Matthew is survived by his wife, Lois; the children of their blended family Randolph Craig, Dawn Robbins, Jennifer Brotherton, Judson Leverett, Brandon Leverett, Kathy Leverett, Stan Leverett, and Scott Leverett, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his sister-in-law Louella Byrd and his longtime friend Harry Sawyer.
