Loretta "Arty" Reck

Loretta Artimus (Peck) Reck, “Arty”, a six-year resident of Torrance Califorrnia, passed away on Friday December 23, 2022 in Torrance. Born on April 8, 1937 and raised in East Waterford, Pennsylvania, Loretta was 85 when she died.

Arty was the youngest daughter and 10th child of Francis and Elsie Peck of East Waterford, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Juniata High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked in the Harrisburg Pennsylvania area, then moved to Los Angeles, CA where she worked as a Bank Teller.

Arty enjoyed skiing on her days off, and a ski club was where she met her husband Max Reck, Jr, an engineer in the Apollo Space Program in Canoga Park, California, in the early 1960s. Arty and Max had two sons together, while living in Canoga Park. They eventually moved to Rockford, Illinois, Winnebago, Illinois, and Belvidere Illinois before finally returning to California together.

She is survived by her two sons, her sister, her three grandchildren, her four great grandchildren as well as dozens of nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Nebraska and California.

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 21, 2023, with viewing at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am, at Lighthouse Memorials White and Day Center, 901 Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA, 90277. A second service is tentatively planned for May, 2023 in East Waterford, Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest at East Waterford Cemetery. A date and time will be announced.
